SILVER ONION – Set of three silver plated candleholders for Tiny Taper candles – also known as Flower Tapers. Including 2 boxes of 12 new original recipe hand dipped Tiny Tapers.
Designed by Jens Harald Quistgaard (IHQ) for DANSK DESIGNS 1964, the SILVER ONION candlestick is a sculptural and aesthetically highly pleasing mid-century Danish modern design marvel in its own right.
Originally produced by DANSK in Denmark, the Tiny Taper candleholders were marketed all over the world, and also inspired the manufacturing of competing brands across the planet. Thus the SILVER ONION and other DANSK DESIGNS candleholders, along with many interpretations of their design, can still be found at secondhand markets and in vintage stores to this day – however the DANSK candleholders are the original ones.
The silver plated SILVER ONION candleholder fits one Tiny Taper candle in its onion shaped body. Part of the base is angled, making it possible to safely position the SILVER ONION straight upright or slightly tilted to one side. Hallmarked DANSK DESIGNS, DENMARK, and IHQ. True classic Danish modern design, an obvious conversation piece, and an extremely attractive accent to any credenza, shelf, dinning or coffee table setting, providing a gorgeous flickering fan of light when lit.
The candlesticks has been cleaned and polished bring back the beautiful silver plate shine and prolong the life of the piece.
