Designed by Jens Harald Quistgaard (IHQ) for DANSK DESIGNS 1964, the FLOWERPETAL candlestick is a sculptural and aesthetically highly pleasing mid-century Danish modern design marvel in its own right.
Originally produced by DANSK in Denmark, the cast iron Tiny Taper candleholders were marketed all over the world, and also inspired the manufacturing of competing brands across the planet. Thus the FLOWERPETAL and other DANSK DESIGNS candleholders, along with many interpretations of their design, can still be found at secondhand markets and in vintage stores to this day – however the DANSK candleholders are the original ones.
The sandy black cast iron FLOWERPETAL candleholder fits 12 Tiny Taper candles in its petal shaped holders, arranged in a ring shape supported by 6 feet – the latter finished with smooth black enameled pads underneath to avoid scratching the furniture on which it stands. Hallmarked IHQ, DANSK DESIGNS and Denmark. True classic Danish modern design, an obvious conversation piece, and an extremely attractive accent to any credenza, shelf, dinning or coffee table setting, providing a gorgeous flickering fan of light when lit.
